Somebody called this morning asking about the ad I had put into the paper about the car and wanted to know if I could bring it to a gas station in STL so they could have a friend look at it. The car has been in desoto since it left Rolla. So I agreed and I drove it the 60 miles from Desoto to the gas station at the usual 65-80 mph. I got to the gas station with no problems at all no indication of any foul play on the cars part at all, i back it out of the place i had parked it and was driving it at <5 mph around the parking lot when the ball joint in the driver side front axle came into two parts.... and the front end of the car collapsed and sat down on the tire. If this had happened only 15 min before when i was going at highway speed I would have rolled that car and probably died in the accident. And the guy is still interested when i get it fixed because it didn't do an extra damage to the car just needs a new ball joint.
Update: It is costing 425.00 to get a new axle put into the bloody thing.
